TORONTO, Ont. — Kids and adults alike had a blast capping off the Family Day long weekend checking out hundreds of the latest cars and exploring automotive-themed activities at the 2017 Canadian International AutoShow.
Whether it was hanging out with with life-sized Stormtroopers, testing out dozens of Virtual Reality displays or looking some of the rarest and most-exclusive cars in the country, record crowds continued to flock to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Monday, Feb. 20th.
The AutoShow welcomed more than 133,000 visitors during the first three days of its 10-day run, including more than 52,000 on Sunday alone.
The show’s Allstate Family Day featured a great mix of special programming and activities for all age groups to celebrate the holiday long-weekend.
Some of the highlights of the day included:
∙ Parents getting GIF photos of their kids soaring over the Toronto skyline like superheroes at the Allstate booth in the in the North Building.
∙ Canadian Racecar drivers Daniel Morad and Scott Hargrove signing autographs for race fans at the Porsche exhibit on the 800 Level in the South Building.
∙ Families grabbing photos with Star Wars Stormtroopers at the Nissan booth on the 300 Level in the North Building.
∙ Photos with cars from the AutoShow’s Art & the Automobile Exhibit at the TADA booth on the 700 Level in the South Building.
∙ A steady flow of people testing out the distracted driving simulator at the Ministry of Transportation’s exhibit.
The AutoShow Live Stage — a new feature at this year’s show — is hosting a variety of speakers and guests who will discuss a wide-range of important automotive topics daily throughout the week. During one of the Family Day presentations, the OPP’s aviation unit was joined for a discussion on enforcement by K-9 Officer Cash, who was a big hit with show visitors.
Other presentations Monday on the Live Stage included a group of Canadian journalists debating which vehicle is best for families, plus a discussion on what female car shoppers need to know when they head to the dealership.
